REMEDIES FOR BLEEDING DURING MENSTRUATION


Menorrhagia is the medical term for menstrual periods with abnormally heavy or prolonged bleeding. Although heavy menstrual bleeding is a common concern among premenopausal women, most women don't experience blood loss severe enough to be defined as menorrhagia.
With menorrhagia, every period you have causes enough blood loss and cramping that you can't maintain your usual activities. If you have menstrual bleeding so heavy that you dread your period, talk with your doctor. There are many effective treatments for menorrhagia.
The signs and symptoms of menorrhagia may include:
  • Soaking through one or more sanitary pads or tampons every hour for several consecutive hours
  • Needing to use double sanitary protection to control your menstrual flow
  • Needing to wake up to change sanitary protection during the night
  • Bleeding for longer than a week
  • Passing blood clots with menstrual flow for more than one day

1. Tamarind
Tamarind, being rich in fibers and antioxidants, reduces the level of cholesterol and prevents excessive flow of blood. It also protects against cancer and heart diseases. Soak 8-10 pieces of tamarind and 4-5 pieces of dry plum in 500 ml water overnight. Next morning, take out all the seeds and crush the mixture. Add 2-3 tablespoons of honey in the mixture and stir well. Drink the mixture on an empty stomach. Drink it regularly for 4-5 days.
2. Orange Juice
Fresh juices are always beneficial for the health. Add 2 tablespoons of lemon juice to a glass of orange juice. Drink it 4-5 times a day. Vitamin C present in orange and lemon helps reduce the symptoms of heavy bleeding.
3. Coriander Seeds
Add 2 tablespoons of coriander seeds in a glass of water and boil it. Let it cool down and drink it. Alternatively, boil fresh coriander leaves in half liter water. When water reduces to half, add natural sugar to it. Drink it as tea 3-4 times a day to stop bleeding.
4. Gooseberry Juice
Gooseberry is helpful for various health problems. Mix mint juice and gooseberry juice in curd. Stir it well. Consume it regularly.
5. Broccoli
Broccoli juice is one of the best remedies for stopping menstrual bleeding. Extract juice from fresh broccoli and apple. Mix both the juices and drink 4-5 glasses every day.
6. Radish
Radish also works effectively against menstruation bleeding. All you need to do is blend 2-3 radish into a fine paste by adding a little water. Add one cup of buttermilk to this paste. Stir it well and consume it throughout the day. For best results, sip it regularly.
  • Radish seeds also work wonders in regulating the irregular periods. Grind some radish seeds and consume the grinded powder with buttermilk regularly when you suffer from delayed periods.
7. Pumpkin
Pumpkin is also a natural remedy for reducing heavy flow of blood during menstruation period. Take out the pulp of pumpkin and let it dry at room temperature. Afterwards, grind it and add natural sugar to it. Have this mixture with yogurt or milk regularly. This will show positive results.
8. Areca Nut
Take 5-6 areca nuts and boil them in two glasses of water. When water evaporates and reduces to one glass, let it cool down. Drink this solution two times a day.
9. Papaya
For managing the menstrual irregularity, one should eat one bowl of raw papaya on daily basis. An enzyme called papain present in papaya regulates the proper flow. Papaya juice is also equally effective.
10. Fennel
Grind one teaspoon of fennel seeds into powder. Boil one glass of water and add the grinded powder to it. Let it steep for five minutes. Filter the solution and drink it hot.
11. Buckwheat
To lessen heavy bleeding, consume buckwheat. Buckwheat is rich in bioflavonoid. It works effectively when consumed with vitamin C. You can have it in the form of pancakes.
12. Cold Compress
When you bleed excessively, try using ice packs. Put ice pack directly on the abdomen. Leave it for twenty minutes.
13. Sugarcane
Consume sugarcane juice 1-2 weeks before the menstruation period begins, it will regulate the proper menstruation cycle and flow.
14. Cayenne
Dissolve 1 capsule of cayenne in a cup of warm water. Drink it to normalize the symptoms of excessive menstruation.
15. Mustard Seeds
Prepare a fine powder by grinding some mustard seeds. Add ½ tsp of this powder in a glass of milk and drink it twice a day.
16. Apple Cider Vinegar
Take apple cider vinegar to overcome the problem of heavy blood flow.
17. Cinnamon
Take 1 cup of boiling water and steep 1 cinnamon stick in it. Drink it daily. Or else, take 3 drops of cinnamon bark tincture, two times a day.
Herbal Remedies to Reduce Excessive Menstrual Bleeding
18. Sage
Take 1 cup water and boil it. Add 1 tablespoon of sage to it and allow it to steep for 5-7 minutes. This herbal remedy will prevent excessive bleeding and blood clotting.
19. Ashoka Tree (Saraca Indica) Bark
The bark of Ashoka tree is used for curing several ailments including heavy bleeding during periods. Crush the bark into powder. Now take 200 ml water and add 25 gm of the powder to it. Let it boil until the water reduces to 50 ml. Then add 50 ml milk in the solution, and boil it down again to half its quantity. Strain the solution and let it cool down. Consume 20-30 ml of this solution in the morning, regularly.
Note - Prepare this solution fresh every morning.
20. Herbal Powder
Prepare an herbal powder to ease the excessive menstrual bleeding. Get 50 gm nigella seeds, 20 gm of bamboo sugar, 20 gm of red rose powder, 20 gm of amylase, and 20 gm oak tree gum. Burn nigella seeds in a pan. Mix all the ingredients and grind them to make a powder. For effective results, consume half teaspoon of this powder with snake root syrup.
Note - In case, you experience from very heavy bleeding, consume it after every 3 hours for 3 days.
21. Chamomile Tea
An effective home remedy for menstruation bleeding and severe cramps is chamomile tea. To prepare this tea, add a few chamomile leaves in a cup of boiling water. Steep it for 4-5 minutes. Strain and drink it.
22. Parsley
Parsley is another amazing home remedy for curing menstruation problems. Drink parsley juice daily. You can also add parsley to carrot juice. Drink this mixed juice regularly for controlling too much bleeding.
23. Aloe Vera
As we all know, aloe vera is a very effectual treatment for various skin problems. But, very few people know that it is also beneficial for menstruation bleeding. Have aloe vera juice regularly to reduce excessive blood flow during periods.
24. Bitter Gourd
Bitter gourd regularizes the menstruation period. Boil the roots of bitter gourd. Strain it. Drink this concoction once or twice a day.
25. Banana Flower
To control excessive menstrual bleeding, consume banana flower with curd in the morning. It will increase the level of progesterone, thereby, reduce the heavy bleeding.
26. Indian Lilac (Margosa)
Boil some margosa leaves and parsley in water. Strain the solution. For effective results, drink it thrice a day.
27. Snakeroots
Snakeroot is an effective herbal remedy for heavy bleeding. You are required to soak 4-5 snakeroots in a glass of water. Next morning, boil the water for five minutes. Strain it and drink.
28. Thyme Tea
Take 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves. Steep them for 8-10 minutes in 1 cup boiling water. Strain the solution, allow it to cool down, and then drink. Alternatively, fill an ice tray with thyme tea. Freeze it. Use these ice cubes on the abdomen as a cold compress.
29. Licorice
Grind licorice into a fine powder. Consume 3 grams of this grinded powder with water drained rice, thrice a day. Have it continuously for 4-5 days for positive results.
30. Mango Bark
Mix 10 ml mango bark extract in 130 ml water. Take 1 tsp of this mixture after every hour. Alternatively, drink juice of fresh mango bark.
31. Wood Apple Leaf
Crush some fresh leaves of wood apple and mix it with warm water. Drink it to lessen excessive bleeding.
32. Bamboo Leaf
A decoction made from the leaves and nodes of bamboo leaves is said to be effective in alleviating all the problems related to menstruation.
33. Jujube Tea
Boil jujube leaves (20 grams) with red dates. Have this tea to stop excessive bleeding.
34. Hawthorn Flowers
Prepare a decoction by combining 15 grams saffron and 30 grams hawthorn flowers extract. Intake this decoction when it is hot.
