problem due to many other reasons too. Therefore, instead of relying on those
chemical-based cosmetics, it’s better to try these home remedies, which really
work in order to treat the dry skin.

Remedies for Dry Skin

Avocado Mask
Avocado is
an excellent home remedy to treat the dry skin as it is rich in natural oil,
which can make the skin soft and smooth all day long. Take a ripe avocado and
make puree out of it. Now, mix it with 2 teaspoons of curd along with ½ a
teaspoon of honey. Put this mask on your face or any dry part of your
body. After 10 minutes, wash it off with water.
2. Olive
Oil and Castor Oil
To bring a
soft and smooth texture to your skin and remove its dryness, you can try a
mixture of castor oil and olive oil. Blend three parts of olive oil with one
part of castor oil. Apply this mixture on the face and on other parts of your
body where the skin is dry. Now, immerse a clean washcloth in hot water, and
then, squeeze it. Now, place this cloth over the body parts where you have
applied the oil mixture. Let it remain until it cools down. Repeat this at
least 2-3 times till your skin feel soft and smooth.
3. Honey
Rub some
honey all over your face and body and sit for 10 minutes. Then, take a shower.
You will come out with a soft glowing skin, which will remain glowy throughout
the day.
4. Warm
Milk
Mix 1-2
teaspoon of almond oil in a glass, full of tepid milk. Take it before sleeping
at night. This will make your skin oily and nourished from within while
preventing its dryness.

Oatmeal
Give an
oatmeal scrub to your dry hands and legs before going to bath. It will make
your skin soft and smooth.
6. Egg
& Oil
Mix 1 egg
with a teaspoon of honey along with ½ teaspoon of olive oil, and also add
little rosewater. Put this egg and oil mixture on your face for a few minutes.
Egg is a conditioning agent, which will make your face soft and supple as ever.

Bananas
This is a
tried and tested remedy to treat a dry skin. Take a ripe banana and mash it
properly. Apply it as a mask on your face to remove the dryness. Banana acts as
a moisturizer while making your skin glow with a shiny smoothness.
8.
Chocolate Mask
Give your
skin a chocolaty texture by applying a chocolate mask. You need to
make a mixture of 5 tablespoons of cocoa powder, 2 tablespoons of mashed
avocado and about 4 tablespoons of honey. Apply this mixture on your face and
body in order to have a soft and glowing skin as it will also help to reduce
marks and blemishes from the skin.
9. Mango
Take a fully
ripe mango and mash it. Now, mix a teaspoon of mashed mango with a teaspoon of
sugar. Use this mixture to exfoliate your skin as a pre-mask. Now, take the
rest of the mashed mango and mix it with 3 teaspoons of argan oil. Apply it on
your face and leave it for about 20 minutes. Then, rinse it off. Mango is
soothing for the skin while it also softens it.

Almond & Milk Pack
Take 3-4 almonds and
soak them in milk for a night. Next morning, crush the almonds to form a paste.
Apply this paste at night before going to bed and leave it. Rinse it off the
next morning to get a soft glowing skin.

Baking Soda, Oatmeal & Vanilla
Mix together
some baking soda, vanilla extract, as well as oatmeal to form a paste. Mix this
paste in a tub of lukewarm water. Soak in this water and get rid of the dry
skin.

Vinegar
This remedy
is especially useful for dry hands. Wash your hands thoroughly and dry them.
Now, apply some vinegar and leave it overnight.

Lotion
Apply baby
lotion as a moisturizer on your skin as it is free from harmful chemicals

best moisturizers that can be applied to heal dry and rough skin. You can add a
teaspoon or 2 of baby oil in your bath water for a long-lasting smoothness. You
can also apply glycerin oil or petroleum jelly to have a soft skin.

with natural or homemade soaps to keep away from dry skin in winter.
You can try lavender, orange or sandalwood soaps, which are not only beneficial

body with coconut oil before going to bathe, to have a soft skin. Coconut oil

home remedy to treat dry skin as it nicely nourishes the skin while leaving it

moisturizer while it also keeps the skin free from certain infections due to
its healing properties.

fruity mask by mashing a slice of papaya, 1 banana and 1 avocado. Apply it
on your face and let it remain for about 15 minutes. Papaya is one of the most
effective home remedies for the treatment of dry skin as it also helps in
eliminating the scars.
19. Milk
Cream & Lemon Pack
For dry skin
on face, take a teaspoon of fresh milk cream and mix ¼ teaspoon of powdered
turmeric as well as some lemon juice to it. After applying it on the face, let
it remain for about 15 minutes. Then, gently massage it for about 5 minutes and
rinse it off. It will leave your skin soft and glowing than ever before.
20.
Cucumber
Cucumber is
very good for skin as it is a natural moisturizer, as well as also acts as a
skin-lightening agent. Grate a cucumber. Now, spread it properly on the face.
Let it be for half an hour. Repeat the remedy every day for about a week until
you notice a substantial difference.
21. Olive
Oil & Egg Yolk
Take two egg
yolks and beat them properly. Now, mix them up with a tablespoon of olive oil. Apply
this mixture all over your body. It will prevent your skin from drying up as
the Vitamin A content found in egg yolks will prevent your skin from shedding.

Almond Oil
Almond oil
is an excellent skin-softener and a very good source of Vitamin E, which is an
important nutrient for skin care. Due to its non-greasiness, you can readily
apply it over your face if you have extra dry facial skin. Use it as a moisturizer,
and massage it for about 5 minutes.
Note- This
remedy should be avoided if you are allergic to dry fruits or nuts.
23. Epsom
Salts or Dried Seaweed
You can also
soak in water containing Epsom salts or dried seaweed. This will help in the
removal of dry skin cells, thereby leaving your skin soft and smoother than
before.
24. Egg
Yolk & Milk Powder
Take an egg
yolk, 1 tablespoon of milk powder and ½ teaspoon of honey. Now, mix all these
together and apply it on your face. Wash it off after 20-25 minutes.
25. Curd
& Fruit Moisturizer
Yes, a fruit
works excellent in treating dry skin. Mash some papaya, avocado and banana and
mix a tablespoon of curd in it. Now, dampen the skin of your face with a wet
tissue and then, apply this mixture while rubbing it in a circular motion. Let
it remain for 10 minutes. Afterwards, wash off.
26.
Beeswax Moisturizer
You’ll need
1 ounce of beeswax, 4 ounce of almond oil, at least 10 drops of Vitamin E oil,
a double boiler, and Vanilla essential oil.
Put beeswax,
Vitamin E oil and almond oil into the double boiler and heat them up, till they
melt properly. Once they are totally melted, put them off from the heat. Now,
mix Vanilla essential oil along with 1/8 cup of water in it. Stir for about 10
minutes. Finally, pour the mixture into a plastic bottle or jar and keep it at
room temperature so that it solidifies. Your homemade beeswax moisturizer is
ready to use.
27. Honey
& Milk
Mix 2
tablespoons of honey with 2 teaspoons of milk and apply it on the
face and neck. Let it be for around 20 minutes, and then, rinse it off
with tepid water. This will leave your skin well-moisturised.
28.
Sesame Oil
Sesame oil
is good for treating dry and flaky skin. Rub sesame oil all over your body
before you go for a bath. This will make your skin supple.
29.
Homemade Pack
Take 4
tablespoon of wheat flour. Mix a teaspoon of mustard oil and half teaspoon of
turmeric powder in it. Add water to make a paste of these ingredients. Apply
this paste on your face, and let it dry for some time. Use lukewarm water to
wash it off.
30. Glycerin,
Rose Water & Lemon Juice
This is a
proven home remedy used for the treatment of dry skin, especially in winters. Glycerin
is an excellent moisturizer, which locks up the moisture while keeping the skin
moisturized for a long time. You just need to mix a tablespoon of glycerin, a
tablespoon of rose water along with a tablespoon of lime juice and apply it on
your body and face.

Lavender Oil
Add a few
drops of lavender oil in your bath water to moisturize your body.
32. Brown
Sugar
Mix some
brown sugar with olive oil or coconut oil. You can also add honey to it. Rub
this mixture all over your body in a circular motion before having a shower.
Preventive
Measures to Avoid Dry Skin
- Avoid hot showers in winters and use
lukewarm water.
- Use mild soaps or body washes, and facial
cleansers.
- Apply body lotion on your damp body.
This will keep the skin soft for a long time.
- Drink plenty of water. This will
hydrate your skin while avoiding dryness.
- Don’t drink alcohol as it causes
dehydration.
- Don’t smoke.
