REMEDIES FOR OPEN PORES



We all yearn for a soft, smooth and radiant facial skin. Large pores on the face can spoil the party for us. They tend to add ages in our look. Caused by genetic factors, the aging process, or an over exposure to the sun, large skin pores are a common facial skin care problem faced my many of us. Mentioned below are few remedies that will enable you to deal with this problem.
1. Ice Cubes
It is an instant remedy for open pores that will stimulate blood circulation and give you a healthier skin. Cleanse your face and rub an ice cube twice in a day for about 5-10 seconds. This is a toner that tightens the pores. Alternatively, you can merely wash your face with ice cold water. For more benefits, fill the ice tray with tomato or lemon juice and freeze it. Massage these ice cubes on your face.
Note- People suffering with sinusitis or meningitis should not use this remedy.
2. Honey
Honey is incredibly great for skin, as it has antibacterial, medicinal and healing properties. It contains high amount of potassium that kills those bacteria which clog the pores. On the other hand, yogurt is a good source of lactic acid that exfoliates your skin and cleanses the pores. Make a combo of yogurt and honey, and apply it on the pores. After a few minutes, rinse it with water.
3. Sugar and Olive Oil Scrub
Take 2 tablespoon of sugar; add 1 tablespoon of olive oil and a few drops of lemon juice. Mix all the ingredients and gently rub on your face for 20 to 30 seconds. Clean it with cool water. For better results, use this remedy once in a week.
4. Egg White Peel Mask
Egg white contains amino acids and other enzymes that rejuvenates the skin and unclog the pores. Apply it all over your face and cover up with a tissue paper. When the mask completely dries, peel off the paper. This is a very effectual peel off mask for minimizing open pores. It cleanses the skin deeply and removes all the impurities and dirt.
5. Almonds
The skin restorative properties of almonds minimize open pores, which make your skin smooth and clear. Take 5-6 almonds and crush them. Then, add a few drops of lemon juice. Grind this mixture to form a paste. Apply it and leave for 20 minutes. Wash with cold water.
  • Prepare a scrub by combining grounded almonds powder and orange peel powder. Apply it on your face rubbing in a circular motion. It’s the best cure for opened skin pores.
  • Mash a banana. Add two teaspoons of sweet almond oil to it. Apply it. Rinse off after 20 minutes.
6. Fuller’s Earth
Take two tablespoons of fuller’s earth and mix it with one tablespoon of honey and milk. Combine all these ingredients properly. Apply it all over your face. Wash off after 15-20 minutes with cold water. This will nourish your skin, and lessen the open pores.
7. Steam
Steaming is one of the best ways to unclog the open pores. Before you begin this process, wash your face with a mild cleanser. Afterwards, splash some cold water, instantly, in order to close them.
8. Rose Water- Cucumber Juice
Mix a few drops of rose water in cucumber juice and dab it on your face, and rinse after 15-20 minutes. This will lessen your open pores. Moreover, silica in cucumber improves the skin texture and gives you a fair complexion.
9. Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties that tightens up the pores and maintains the pH balance of the skin. Take equal proportion of water and apple cider vinegar. Apply this solution by using cotton ball and wait for a few minutes. Rinse it with water. For better results, use it regularly.
10. Sandalwood
Take one tablespoon each of sandalwood and turmeric powder and add a few drops of almond oil to it. Make a paste of all three ingredients and apply gently over your face and around the neck. Leave it for 20 minutes and wash your face with cold water. It will revitalize your skin and minimize the occurrence of open pores to a great extent.
11. Baking Soda
Baking soda works as an exfoliating agent that removes excess oil and dirt from your skin. Mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda in lukewarm water. Apply the paste on your face and massage in circular motion. Leave it for 5 minutes and rinse it off with cool water.
12. Oatmeal Mask
Tomato is a natural astringent that shrinks the size of pores and removes extra oil from the skin. On the other hand, oatmeal is an excellent exfoliator that cleanses, moisturizes and soothes the skin and sloughs off the excess oil as well. Make a face pack by combining these two, apply it and wash after 30 minutes.
13. Fruit Massage
Fruits not only hydrate your skin, but also retain its glow. Massage your face by using pulp of several fruits such as papaya, orange, banana, strawberry, grapes, pineapple, watermelon, etc. This lessens enlarged pores and also removes the dead skin.
14. Raw Milk
Raw milk can be used as a natural cleanser for the skin. First, clean your face. Apply it on the face with the help of a cotton ball and softly rub over your face. Wait for 15 minutes. Then, wash with fresh and cool water. This remedy cleanses as well as seals the enlarged facial pores.
15. Butter and Salt
Mix some butter with salt, make a paste and apply it over the open pores. Leave it for 15 minutes. Afterwards, wash it with cold water. This mask covers-up the open pores and reduces their size.
16. Milk of Magnesia
Milk of magnesia is, basically, a solution of magnesium hydroxide that is known for its laxative action. Apply some MOM on your face and leave it for 20 minutes. First wash it off with lukewarm water, and then immediately wash with cold water, in order to close the pores.
17. Lemon
Cut lemon wedges. Take a wedge and put a little sugar on it. Rub it on your skin for a few minutes. Finally, rinse off with cold water.
18. Alum
Get some warm water. Add a pinch of alum to it. Dab this solution on your face to treat open pores.
19. Buttermilk
Soak a cotton ball in buttermilk and dab it on your nose or face to tighten the open pores.
20. Milk
Get some milk (without cream) and add some sea salt to it. This will decrease the size of the pores.
21. Tomato
Take 2-3 pods of garlic and ½ a tomato. Grind both the ingredients. Apply a thin layer of this mixture on your face. After 15-20 minutes, rinse off with lukewarm water. Finally, splash the cold water.
  • Simply rubbing a tomato slice also reduces the size of skin pores to a great extent.
22. Gram Flour
Mix 2 tablespoons of plain yogurt and 1 tablespoon of gram flour. Apply it and wash off with cool water after 15-20 minutes.
23. Yogurt
Applying a thin layer of yogurt on your skin, just for 10 minutes will do wonders. If you have oily skin, prepare a paste of 1 egg white (whisked thoroughly), 2 aspirin tablets (finely powdered) and 1 teaspoon of yogurt. Let it sit for 15-20 minutes. Use cool water to rinse off.
Herbal Remedies for Open Pores
24. Witch Hazel
Witch hazel is a natural astringent that minimizes enlarged pores without over-drying your skin. It removes excess oil and sloughs off bacteria, debris, and all other impurities. Damp cotton in one teaspoon of witch hazel, and apply on your face. Allow it to dry and then wash off.
25. Catechu
Catechu prevents appearance of big and open pores on the skin. Combine catechu with milk (for dry skin) or rose water (for oily skin). Add sandalwood powder to prepare a paste. Spread this paste on your face. Leave it on for 12-15 minutes, and then, wash off with cold water.
26. Chamomile
Mix equal proportion of tomato pulp and chamomile powder. Apply it on the open pores and they will contract naturally.
27. Mint Juice
A combo of watermelon juice and mint juice when applied to enlarged pores enable them to contract.
28. Oak Tree Gum
Extract some gum from the oak tree. Add milk to prepare a paste. Apply it and rinse off after a few minutes.
29. Fenugreek
Mix equal quantities of fenugreek powder, cucumber paste and ginger paste. Apply on your face, to get rid of open pores in a natural way.
30. Lettuce Leaves
Extract the juice of lettuce leaves and add a few drops of lime juice. Apply it on your face, and wash off after 20 minutes. You can store this juice in a glass bottle, in the refrigerator.
31. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera gel has skin cleansing properties that can seal facial pores. Rub the gel for 5 minutes and leave until it gets dries. Afterwards, wash your face with cool water. You can also add lemon juice to it.
REMEMBER
  • Cleanse your face 2 times a day.
  • If your skin is oily, apply astringent after cleansing.
  • Instead of warm water, use cold water to wash your face.
DON’TS
  • Never go to bed with makeup on your face, as it prevents your skin from breathing, which leads to open pores.
  • Do not consume fried and greasy food because it stimulates the sebaceous glands to secrete excessive oil.
